What do you think about this situation?

Ok, I was dating this girl on and off for almost 2 ½ years. Well the last 5 months we were getting really close. So I started asking her how she so me as a boyfriend or only as a friend. I also told her that if she wanted to be friends it was ok with me but she need to tell me. Well she told me that she had feelings but didn’t know what type of feelings. So we continued to date. Both of us are in the same college. So during the Christmas break we text a little here and there. But when we came back she came to my place for dinner and them she stopped talking to me. I could not reach her at all. I try calling, texting, and even facebook but nothing happen. So after a few months I text her and she finally replied. I ask her what happen and she replied that she was staring to fall for me and got scare. Well after that I didn’t talk to get for almost a year and then I text her again and told her I wanted to talk to her about it to get some answers. So we meet and I asker what she want us to be friends only or more then friends. And her answer was that she didn’t know how to express her feeling about me into words. I continued to asker the question every few minutes or so. And she still could not give me a straight answer. So I ask her one more time and again she gave me the some answer. So I turn around and walk away from her. So I have a few questions about this.1) Did I do the right thing in walking away after the answer she gave me? 2) And if I didn’t do the right thing what could I have done different? 3) Could she really had any feelings for me at all or was it all a game for
